This week, the Poco Loco Restaurant family was struck twice by tragedy. The first happened to Derian Garaicoa, an employee, who was hit by a car Friday night as he was being a Good Samaritan helping the injured in an accident along the Connecticut roadway. He was only 19 years old.

The second tragedy happened to Joao Vicuna who has just passed away from his critical injuries. Joao Vicuna previously worked at Poco Loco, and filled in regularly for his mom and dad who were both employed there. Like a good son, Joao frequently drove from NJ all the way to Poco Loco to cover shifts for his mom or dad if either of them had to take off or were sick.

His father just received news that his son expired at 3:00 o’clock that afternoon.
