Police are investigating an accident which happened outside a Northeast Philly Target store. The incident involved a cop who was hit by a vehicle in the store parking lot and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The injured, a female Philadelphia Police officer, was immediately transported to a local hospital last Tuesday night after a car struck her police cruiser near a Northeast Philadelphia shopping center.

Witnesses were able to report to the police that the car was driven by a female driver. At around 7:25 o’clock in the evening, the female police had the gray Chevrolet New Yorker pulled over after the driver was suspected of DUI. She was asked to stop in front of the cops’ cruiser along the 2200 block of Bleigh Avenue.

Due to the crash, the police officer hit her head as she was taken to the hospital in stable condition but complaining of dizziness. Police reported that she is in stable condition and will soon be released.

The female operator of the Chevrolet tried to flee but she was apprehended a short time later. The police were able to find her car in the parking lot of the Target Store at 7400 Bustleton Ave. around 8 p.m. Police believed she was under the influence.

The authorities are studying which charges will be filed against her.

This was also another officer-involved accident last Tuesday night where the driver tried to get away. Around 10 o’clock that night, a motorcycle cop was hit by a vehicle along the 7200 block of Bustleton Avenue and the driver fled the scene. The cop wasn’t seriously injured and the driver was arrested down the road.

Meanwhile, the inbound service to Philadelphia on SEPTA’s Trenton Line was not stopping between Bristol and Holmesburg Station due to another mishap.

At least one person was killed after being hit by a train near Bristol Station in Bristol Borough.

Officials have not yet identified the victim. Normal service was resumed on SEPTA’s Trenton Regional Rail Line after it some delays.
