Lisa Thomas-Laury, an anchor reporter of 6, said that she was thankful that she escaped injury in a car accident that occurred last Friday in Ardmore.

A well-loved veteran news anchor in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania, Lisa Thomas-Laury only sustained minor injury from the mishap and not anything serious.

Last Friday, Thomas-Laury’s cream-colored Porsche Cayenne SUV was hit by another car at the intersection of County Line and Roberts roads. She was wearing seat belt and her car had an airbag.

She felt lucky that her airbag deployed promptly and that she was wearing a seat belt. The veteran broadcaster related her experience to the press who interviewed her after the accident.

Although she sustained bruises on the head, she felt that the accident would have been much worse off if she hadn’t been driving an SUV.

Thomas-Laury was transported to Paoli Memorial Hospital in a neck brace. Doctors were extra-careful with her head injury because she has suffered from POEMS syndrome, a neurological disorder that he had been suffering for several years.

Last year, Thomas-Laury filed a suit against Lankenau Hospital and Dr. Clifford Pemberton, an oncologist and hematologist, for malpractice alleging they failed to diagnose her correctly with POEMS syndrome, a rare nerve disorder, when she sought treatment in 2001. Jury selection begins Tuesday at Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown.

Since her injury was minor, she was treated and promptly released from the hospital.

Drexel University College of Medicine’s Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership is pleased to announce that its 2013 WOMAN ONE honoree will be 6ABC anchor Lisa Thomas-Laury.
