Early Tuesday evening, a 33-year-old man, driving drunk in Overbrook who ran a red light, plowed into a 13-year-old boy and two parked cars. He was arrested by the police and appropriate charges are prepared.
According to the police, the preliminary investigation showed that the man was driving an oversized Ford pickup truck west on Columbia Avenue. He blew through the traffic light at 61st Street and crashed into the teen and the other cars.
The boy suffered head injuries and lacerations to his head, legs and hips and was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where he remained hospitalized in stable condition around 7:30 p.m.
Cops arrested the driver for DUI shortly after the crash, police spokeswoman Officer Tanya Little said.
