CLAYMONT, Del. – It was another Friday night and another car accident which caused an injury to a pedestrian. State police reported that a Pennsylvania man was critically injured when he was struck by a car in Claymont.
The accident happened shortly before 9:30 Friday night on Ridge Road at the intersection with Virginia Avenue. The darkness of the night is discounted as the cause as the intersection was fully lighted.
Police identified a 53-year-old man by the name of David Jones from Marcus Hook, Pa., as the injured party. He was trying to cross Ridge Road when he walked into the path of a car. The victim was brought to a hospital.
The accident remains under investigation. No charges were immediately filed but it would depend upon the results of the investigation.
No identity of the driver and even the type of car used was given out to the media.
The authorities are trying to find what caused the car to hit the man who was crossing the street. Whether the car was driven in full speed or the driver was sleepy or DUI will be the core of the investigation.
There were witnesses who could bring light to the accident. Jones was admitted to the hospital and the doctors said that he is in critical condition.
Up to the present, there was no news regarding the condition of the injured. And the driver has yet to be apprehended top answer for the accident.
