Children injured in crash, mom charged with DUI
FAIRMOUNT PARK – August 5, 2012 (WPVI) – A mother was charged with DUI after her car crashed in Fairmount Park and she was responsible for the injury of four people including her two small kids.
This irresponsible woman caused the accident which happened around 10:30 Saturday night on the South Concourse Drive near Belmont Avenue sent four people to the hospital and her two small children.
She was driving her minivan along with her 6-month-old & 2-year-old children and another adult passenger when the accident occurred on the South Concourse Drive near Belmount Avenue.
Authorities reported that the children, ages 2 years old and 6 months, were rushed to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The other two adults were admitted to the hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. But they were sent home after treatment as their injuries considered minor.
Inside the other vehicle, an SUV were an elderly couple who were also brought to the hospital. But they were later allowed to go home after treated for minor bumps & bruises. The authorities declared them out of danger.
Medical test shows that the woman was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.DUI. The police are filing DUI charges against the mother for driving the car under the influence of alcohol/drugs. Penalties for DUI differed from state to state.
The police did not disclose the identity of the mother. They also refused to give the names of the persons involved in the accident.
